The trail was just slightly over 9km. But it took us almost 2 hrs. The reason?
Nasi Lemak Sambal Sotong (Carbo loading?)
I blame it all the the Nasi Lemak they had in the morning, just before the ride. This is the heavy breakfast, just before offloading the bike and up to the trails. Nutritionists said that we must eat something heavy at least 2 hours before exercising. These guys are having it 5 minutes before. And it's spicy nasi lemak, with spicy squid, and curry puff.
The trail was located just before Broga, in Semenyih. The first 4km was on tarmac, going towards the entrance of the offroad. After 4km, it was offroad, and climb all the way up until about 5km or so. The ascend were quite slippery as it was raining the night before.
Wait..
It took us quite some time to climb up, as most of the time were spent waiting for the others. It feels great though to be outdoors again. The fresh air, the green leaves, and the sound of the river flowing through really makes it enjoyable.
Here come the rest of the members
It mainly consists of two major uphills. With 3 rest points at just 6, 7 and 8km with about 200m ascend in between. Since we are not in a race or anything, and here just to enjoy the nature, so we just ride at our own pace.
First rest point before second uphill.
Wait again..
That's why we call it MTB - Mari Tolak Basikal.
After the tedious climbs, there are series of downhill that we need to endure. The downhill however, are quite dangerous, as the trail seems like haven't been used for quite some time, and water ducts are forming on the ground, deep enough for your wheels to stuck, and at nearly 30 degrees of slope angle, that's not something to play around. We go through the downhill very slowly, as not to injure ourselves and missed the opportunity for the waterfall grand finale.
And so, at the near end of the ride, there's a grand finale of a very refreshing waterfall. The cold water, and fresh air, makes it worth every sweat. And the waterfall also comes with a free "Fish Spa". Nobody else were there, except for the 5 of us, makes it like our own private waterfall.
So that's what makes cycling in the outdoor is so much fun. It relieves stress, and makes you a whole lot healthier. And yes, this is the first time i tried the trails with XT brakes. It was so wonderful, especially during the downhill. The grip seems to be very promising, even after long and hard braking. Perhaps, the only thing that it'll need, would be a bigger sized rotors. :)
