I've been on a few tracks a couple of time, mostly Putrajaya, GCE, Shah Alam & Bukit Jelutong area. Nevertheless, my offroad experience were very minimal, as i was only exposed to the trails around FRIM (rover / dream / syabas / pacat / bukit hari and steroid hill).
Will be joining MTB Jamboree this 28th January, and i think my RM50 bike will have a lot of prep to do.
So far, my wishlist as per below:
1) Forks
I think i need a better fork. My current XCT fork was bought previously just to cater the need of the new frame, as my old rockshox fork is not long enough to go through the headset of my newly bought frame last time.
I was aiming high, for Fox Talas 32, but since the price is ridiculously above rm2k, i think i will just stick to moderate forks, such as RockShox Recon.. or anything better than my XCT V2 such as EPICON. At least i can reduce down more or less about 1kg of a weight from there. XCT v2 = 2.2kg, Rockshox = 1.4kg.
RockShox Recon, or Fox Talas 32 maybe?!?! hooo
2) Stem and raised handlebars
My current stem and handlebars are from my previous bike, which is pretty old skool. It was all chromed aluiminium with rusty screws. The handlebar is the flat type, and i don't think it's long enough for me. A raised handlebar would be great, with black alloy and some decals on it.
Truvativ, or probably Ritchey carbon stem and handlebars? hooo..
3) Groupset
Current groupset is quite on the OKAY side, which is DEORE LX. The issue is that this thing only got 8 speed. I think i would appreciate those extra cassettes during jamboree. I just don't think i need a new crankset, as my current LX crankset is already "hollowtech".. and spending a mere RM600 for a couple of grams less, is just a total waste.
XT 10 speed groupset, without crankset.. or maybe XT-R? or SRAM X9? orrrr SRAM X9 red? wuuhuuuuu
4) Frame
Since i'm using a RM50 Exitway frame, (YES, RM50.. ) i'll definitely need a new frame later on, but it's not that urgent. My current frame weighs at about 1.7kg, and 17" in size.
I'm looking for upgrading to Trek 8500 frame (1.6kg, 17.5"), or probably Ducati Corse frame by Bianchi.. hoooo...
So that's all in my wishlist, and in the prep for the jamboree, i'll probably get item no 2 sorted out in no time, and choosing between item 1 or item 3.. (or maybe both? haha).
Well, let the time (and pocket) decides.
